The BG-E13 is a solid product. I use the ...
The BG-E13 is a solid product. I use the LP-E6 battery option rather than the AA battery option. It does come with the AA battery tray if you need or prefer it. Besides the extended battery life, the grip allows a vertical orientation without awkward contortions with your hands. I carry two additional LP-E6 batteries and a car charger to ensure I have fresh batteries at all times. Some complain that the Canon LP-E6 battery is too expensive to purchase several, but I have purchased non-Canon batteries (Wasabi) for a tenth of the price. They have performed well through repeated rechargings. A caution, however, as it does add over a pound in weight including the batteries. I find the extra weight is well worth the piece of mind over sufficent battery life and the greater mobility.

Great accessory, get the real Canon version
If you're thinking of getting a grip for your 6D, and you aren't sure if you should drop the extra 140 bucks on the legit Canon versus the knock-offs... well let me tell you - save up if you have to and get the real deal. All of the other knock-offs you'll find just don't fit right, or feel right, or they won't work 100% the time (it will fail at the worst time... every time). This one however, is flawless. Like most official Canon products the build quality is excellent. I actually ran a shuffleboard puck into my camera (long story). It was a direct hit on the grip and there wasn't a mark on it - no issues - works flawless to this day. I've used it in dew, at 18,000 feet, in 10 degree weather, you name it - I'll say it again, it's solid. Basically, if you're thinking of getting a grip here's what you should consider: 1. Do you take at least some portrait shots? Do you like taking them at all? 2. Are you ever away from a the ability to charge batteries for extended periods of time? (camping, hiking, boating, etc...) Or do you just want longer shooting sessions without battery swaps? 3. Are you ok with nearly doubling the weight of the camera body? (to be honest, it's never once been an issue for me) If you can answer yes to those questions then it's a no-brainer - get this grip.

Great quality, don't go with knock offs
This Canon Battery Grip fit perfectly on my Canon 6D. I had the version for the Canon 60D and it has always worked perfectly. It will add significant bulk to your camera; if portability is important for you just carry another battery or two in your camera bag. I shoot THOUSANDS of pictures with this thing on before needing to recharge - I love it. The grip has a shutter release button (button used to take picture) to allow you to easily switch between landscape and portrait mode with ease. It came with an insert to use either two canon batteries or AA batteries. Although I don't use AA batteries it is nice to have the option. If you are in the market for a battery pack, I highly suggest going with the authentic canon product. You spent too much money on your camera for you to take any risk of malfunction due to a low quality battery system.

Works great as a grip and doubles your battery life!
The main reason I bought this grip was to have more power while shooting spectacular auroras all night long in the Arctic! It worked great and I never ran low during numerous very long nights, taking thousands of pics, in sub-zero temps. Now, back home in the desert southwest, I find it difficult to remove the grip because it not only provides lots of power but the physical extension provides wonderful support when shooting the moon and a particular comet freehand with a 500mm lens! And, it provides extra mass and a good base for mounting on a tripod. Both batteries communicate with the camera and you can run with just one battery or the AA's of course. Awesome grip! Easy to install, works perfectly, would certainly buy again.

The best grip for the 6D, comes at a price, but works without a glitch
After reading mixed reviews regarding 3rd party grips for the EOS 6D, I've decided not to experiment. The sliding tray mechanism appears to be the weak link in those, but the original grip is precisely engineered and put together, and appears to be working perfectly. It is not as sturdy as the all-metal 1D series with similar locks, but most of he twist-release lock interior parts are quality steel and lock very positively into place. The body of the grip is of course made of the same polycarbonate as the one found covering the magnesium chassis of the 6D Body. Tried with both OEM and Wasabi batteries, the grip doesn't disappoint. I did not try using AA batteries, and I doubt I'll even do. Last time I've used AA batteries in a SLR was in the days of my EOS 30, where the other option was CR123s, so some cheap Ni-MH AA goodness offered significant improvement. Price appears to be the only con for this item - thus 1 star is deducted - myself and others complaining about that should take a look in Nikon battery grip prices - even for much cheaper, cropped bodies that its actually consistently higher.

Grip that changes your world.
I used this in San Diego thinking I would run out after a day of shooting the zoo's or the architecture or any number of curiosities. WRONG! This grip and two batteries wouldn't run dry. It is purely amazing! I never got it to register as less than full. Shooting hundreds and hundreds of shots. Changes the 6D for the better in every way. If your on the fence and and it's starting to hurt. Buy it and buy it here, much less cash than most places. Heavier so you can choose to use just one battery if you want to slightly lessen load. Canon quality is incredible with this grip. Seems a little loose when tightened but may resolve with small piece of tape. Store your battery compartment cover inside grip. This is better than a new piece of glass and makes your high tech machine feel better in your hands!

Great accessory. Build quality is very good, the rubberized texture isn't EXACTLY like the camera body but it's not enough to notice. It fits on very tight, I don't have any worry of it coming loose. Fully seals with no light cracks between. But it's heavy. It adds almost double weight to the camera body with both batteries. It's a significant weight increase. But this isn't necessarily a bad thing! It feels great in the hands. There's so much more on the side to grip, the difference is quite big. The buttons on the grip are satisfactory, not perfect but it's not an issue. Manual-focusers might have a bit of an issue gripping the bottom of the focus ring due to how the grip bottom extends out. If you use a tripod socket mount camera strap, you might have an issue with this grip because it sort of blocks the portrait buttons, where you grip it, the strap mount sticks out. The battery tray isn't as bad as people say, I have no issues sliding it in, and the build quality is acceptable. The portrait layout buttons are nice, but the bottom of the grip is so wide that it is too big for my hands. Using back-button-focus and the portrait grip buttons, it's very large for my hands, and feels somewhat awkward. I have slightly below average sized hands, so mileage may vary. But it is something to keep in mind. Your camera doesn't quite balance on the bottom if you have a long lens after putting on the grip, it tips forward and rests on the end of the barrel. May be an issue to some. If you like your camera to be small and light, which is a big benefit of the 6D, this is removed when you have the grip. That being said, it's a wonderful accessory, adds stability, comfort, and style to your camera.
