Would you be able to just squeeze liquid out of the bottle instead of someone sucking on it?

No. The bottle is hard plastic. You would have to suck on the protruding straw.

How does it clip to a backpack? I see that the bottle has a loop but not a clip. Do you need to buy a clip separately?

You'd need an extra clip/caribiner. Also, just FYI but the mouthpiece doesn't fold in so it sticks up all the time and would be exposed to whatever touches it on outside of pack. Make sure it can stay upright on backpack because it does have small amount of leakage if upside down.

Is it ok to put milk, juice, etc. in these?

I put it all the time. I think it says in the directions though that it's not microwaveable so I will head the milk in a glad cup and then pour into this. I love this sippy cup. It truly is no spill and sooo easy to clean if you have the right brush.
