It is more like a fabric/fleece. It is a nice tablet cloth.

Is it machine washable?

No. It will rip. It will most likely rip before that. Don't waste your money this is extremely cheap quality will not last past 2 days if lucky.

it could seat 4 people. however the first time I used it the handle ripped apart from the blanket and I had to throw it away. it was made so cheaply...not worth it.
